In doing so, I focused primarily on engaging\u00a0my students by introducing them to innovative approaches and techniques as well as opening up their minds to the artist&#8217;s ability to play, inspire and transform.\u00a0Projects spanned everything from outdoor chalk murals (K) and elaborate cityscapes (1g) to Keith Haring-inspired calls to action (2g) and 3D cube creatures\u00a0(5g). Below, I&#8217;ve outlined a few of the many highlights from each grade and encourage you to visit\u00a0the accompanying photo galleries for more incredible examples of student artists at work.<br \/>\n<div class='divider-border' style='margin-top: 10px; margin-bottom: 10px'><\/div><div class='clear'><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deborahznewman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/CP-Kart1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3294\" src=\"http:\/\/www.deborahznewman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/CP-Kart1-1024x200.jpg\" alt=\"CP-Kart1\" width=\"1024\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.deborahznewman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/CP-Kart1-1024x200.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.deborahznewman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/CP-Kart1-300x58.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Kindergarten<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Early\u00a0learners at CP explored different shapes, artists and lines and experimented with everything from drawing, painting and paper cutting to advanced collage techniques and different styles of mark making. We also studied monsters and sea creatures, made our own &#8220;It&#8217;s Not a Box&#8221; masterpieces and turned the schoolyard into our own personal canvas!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deborahznewman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/CP-2g1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3293\" src=\"http:\/\/www.deborahznewman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/CP-2g1-1024x200.jpg\" alt=\"CP-2g1\" width=\"1024\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.deborahznewman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/CP-2g1-1024x200.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.deborahznewman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/CP-2g1-300x58.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>First Grade<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>First graders had a lot of fun exploring (and blurring) the line between fantasy and reality!
